Man Accused of Drunk Driving after Alleged Police Chase

|

Individuals who are caught driving in the wrong lane are often subject to accusations of driving under the influence of alcohol. While crossing into oncoming lanes may be dangerous, it doesn't necessarily indicate drunk driving. There are numerous circumstances that may contribute to such circumstances. A man from a neighboring state has recently been arrested and accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a similar situation in Wisconsin.

Police claim to have witnessed the man driving in the wrong lane on a divided highway. They say that upon approaching the vehicle, the man began to flee, leading to a pursuit. Authorities allegedly attempted to use tire deflation devices to stop the vehicle, which were apparently unsuccessful. They claim to have eventually disabled the vehicle and placed the man under arrest following a short chase on foot.

He is currently facing charges for operating a vehicle while under the influence, as well as charges for driving without a valid ID and fleeing from the police. Reportedly, the man has a previous OWI on record. A conviction for similar charges could be devastating, possibly causing the man to face a lengthy prison term, along with the potential for significant fines.

While police advised that a blood sample was taken, there was no indication of the results, or any other procedures that would indicate intoxication. Individuals who are accused of drunk driving have the right to seek the counsel of an attorney for assistance in the criminal process. A defense attorney in Wisconsin can thoroughly examine all aspects of the incident in question and advise an individual on the best course of action with which to proceed.
