Wisconsin Man Facing Sixth DUI Charge After Recent Arrest

|

Countless individuals have been accused of driving under the influence of alcohol following the conduction of field sobriety tests over the years. Although often used as a tool to indicate intoxication, similar tests, such as a breath test, are hardly infallible. A Wisconsin man was recently arrested for DUI outside of an apartment building following similar tests after an officer claimed to have witnessed him operating a vehicle earlier in the day.

According to reports, an officer says he saw the man driving a truck in a parking lot and learned that the man did not have a valid driver's license. Police allegedly located the same truck at a nearby apartment complex and approached the man outside of the building. They claim to have noticed an odor of alcohol on him, and he allegedly admitted to drinking earlier that day.

Police also asserted that open containers were located inside the vehicle. They claim that after showing signs of intoxication during field sobriety tests he allegedly took a breath test, which indicated his blood alcohol level to be .08. He was taken into custody and is now facing his sixth OWI, which would carry severe penalties if a conviction is obtained.

Although tests and procedures used during an arrest for DUI might be contestable, the process can be challenging to navigate alone. Those who are accused of a similar crime often find it beneficial to seek assistance from a defense attorney. An attorney can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client in Wisconsin, advise him or her of the potential consequences and options for defense, and assist in pursuing the best outcome possible moving forward.
