Man Faces Drunk Driving Charges After Short Pursuit and Crash

|

The penalties for a conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol are serious, and may only become more severe with each successive offense. Those who face DUI charges may wish to protect themselves against potentially devastating consequences, but they might be uncertain how to achieve this goal. A man has recently been accused of drunk driving following a recent incident in Wisconsin, in which he allegedly led authorities on a short chase.

Police claim to have received reports of an individual who was exhibiting a lack of balance while getting into his vehicle at a local restaurant. It is also asserted the man was unable to stay in one lane on the interstate, and had reportedly caused other vehicles nearby to come close to being involved in a collision. Upon locating the vehicle, an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, to which the driver allegedly responded by attempting to flee.

According to authorities, after a short pursuit, the man crashed his vehicle in the yard of a nearby residence. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, and was subjected to a blood draw after allegedly refusing to take a breath test. He is currently facing charges for driving while intoxicated, as well as a felony charge for attempting to evade an officer.

When accused of drunk driving, an individual may benefit from consulting with an attorney as soon as possible. A defense attorney in Wisconsin can advise a client of the potential consequences he or she may face and provide advice on how best to proceed. If a conviction cannot be avoided, an attorney can assist a client in pursuing a lesser sentence during subsequent court proceedings.
