Collision Leads to Allegations of Drunk Driving for Wisconsin Man

|

Being involved in a motor vehicle accident can be a stressful experience. Once an accident occurs, drivers are generally expected to remain at the scene, as failing to do so could lead to severe consequences. A 32-year-old Wisconsin man has been accused of drunk driving after he allegedly fled the scene of a recent head-on collision.

Authorities assert the incident took place at around 10 a.m. on a recent Wednesday when the driver of a vehicle crossed into an oncoming lane and struck a car head-on. Police also claim that, shortly after the incident occurred, the driver who caused the collision fled the scene. Although the driver of the other car was taken to the hospital by an ambulance, the nature of his condition remains unclear.

According to reports, the hit-and-run suspect was located soon thereafter and taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. However, no information was provided as to how law enforcement agents came to believe he was intoxicated at the time of the crash, and it is unclear if field sobriety or breath tests were administered. Authorities have also advised that he may face additional charges once the investigation into the incident is complete.

A conviction for drunk driving carries serious consequences, and the penalties only become more severe when an accident takes place, especially one causing injury. However, before a conviction can be obtained, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. An attorney can examine the incident, along with the evidence against a person in Wisconsin, and provide advice on the best course of action to take during legal proceedings.
