Wisconsin Man Accused of Drunk Driving and Evading Authorities

|

Upon being accused of a crime, many individuals may be uncertain of their legal rights and how to respond to allegations. The criminal justice system can be complex, and without the necessary legal experience, a person may find it advisable to seek assistance in navigating the process. A 46-year-old man is likely focused on his defense after he was recently taken into custody and accused of drunk driving in Wisconsin.

Law enforcement agents assert the incident began when they encountered a vehicle that was traveling above the speed limit. Upon attempting to initiate a traffic stop, they claim the driver began to flee. After a short pursuit, they deployed tire deflation devices, which they say helped bring the vehicle to a stop. Upon approaching the driver, police claim he exhibited multiple signs of intoxication and that a strong odor of alcohol was present.

He was arrested shortly thereafter and taken to a nearby medical facility, where he allegedly refused to perform field sobriety tests. However, authorities assert he consented to a legal blood draw, the results of which remain unclear. He is now facing charges for driving under the influence and evading authorities, the latter of which is reportedly a felony charge.

When accused of drunk driving, an individual in Wisconsin may find it advisable to seek advice as soon as the charges are filed. By consulting an attorney, a person could obtain advice on making informed decisions throughout the process. A defense attorney can help a client fully understand his or her legal rights and provide guidance on the best course of action to take during subsequent legal proceedings.
