Failing to adhere to a routine traffic stop is never advisable, and a similar action could lead to unfortunate circumstances. However, being the subject of a traffic stop can be a stressful experience, and a person may be uncertain how best to respond to the situation. A 34-year-old man has been taken into custody and accused of drunk driving after he allegedly led authorities on a short chase while driving a dump truck in Wisconsin.
Law enforcement agents assert the incident began as they were responding to reports of a disturbance on a recent Wednesday night. Upon arriving at the scene, they claim the man got into a dump truck, pulled away and subsequently refused to comply with efforts to initiate a traffic stop. During the pursuit, the man allegedly lowered the bed of the truck and began dumping materials on the road before eventually veering out of the lanes of traffic into a nearby field.
The man was arrested soon thereafter and accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol. However, there was no indication as to how they came to believe the man was intoxicated at the time. According to reports, he is facing several charges in relation to the alleged incident, including operating while intoxicated and fleeing an officer.
When accused of drunk driving, many individuals may lack the necessary experience to navigate the criminal justice system. Fortunately, there are attorneys who can advise a person of the consequences he or she may face and provide guidance on how best to approach the situation. An attorney can advise a client in Wisconsin on what to expect during the process and assist in forming a strong defense for use during legal proceedings.
