Late Night Collision Leads to Drunk Driving Charges For 1

|

Traveling well above the speed limit can be dangerous and may increase the chances of a motor vehicle accident. Receiving a citation under similar circumstances can be intimidating enough on its own, and the situation may only increase in severity should authorities suspect the presence of further wrongdoing. A 24-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving following a recent collision in Wisconsin.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 10 p.m. on a recent Friday when the man allegedly drove past the scene of an unrelated accident at a high rate of speed. Authorities claim he failed to adhere to emergency lights and struck another vehicle head-on after crossing into the wrong lane of traffic. According to police, the driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital for treatment soon thereafter.

The driver who allegedly caused the incident was also taken to a medical facility before being taken into custody. Although no information was provided as to how authorities came to suspect impairment, he is reportedly facing charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Similar charges carry serious penalties if a conviction is obtained, and the consequences may only increase in severity should an accident causing injuries occur in the process.

Individuals who are accused of drunk driving may lack the necessary legal knowledge to know how to respond to the situation. When facing such accusations, a person could benefit from consulting with a defense attorney for guidance on how best to proceed. An attorney can evaluate the circumstances a client in Wisconsin is facing and assist in pursuing the most favorable outcome possible during subsequent legal proceedings.
